3D shapes
This term in Geometry we learned about 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes. We use skewers and blu tac to make models of our 3 dimensional shapes.
Technology Challenge
Last week we had a challenge where we had to hold our dictionary for at least 10 seconds on a paper stand. After trial and error we worked out a design of the stand that could hold our dictionary for more than 20 seconds.

My School
School is important because we can get brainy. We learn new things and give feedback to people. We reflect on our learning and try to get better at reading and writing. Sometimes I play at the park and do Art. We read books to get brainy. If there were no schools, then we will not learn. we would have no books to read and we would not get brainy. Then we would not get a good job. I like school because it helps me to read and write. I like to meet my friends at school and I like to do Art at school. school is the best place for people to learn. Every child should go to school everyday to learn.

I have had a surgery I am on the wheel chair. The doctor said I have to be on a wheel chair for 8 weeks. So I come to school on a wheel chair. The children in my class are very helpful. They take me around on my wheel chair. When I cannot go for gymnastics or sports, my teacher Mrs. Sharma stays with me. It is nice to sit in the class and work on my
netbook or chat with Mrs. Sharma.

Explanation; How caterpillars turn into butterflies
I love butterflies
when they fly from one flower to another. I like butterflies because they are
very very beautiful and it is really exciting to see them fly really really
high in the sky.
First the
butterfly lays eggs on the leaves. It takes 3-4 days for the eggs to hatch and
out comes a really really little caterpillar. The egg is smaller than a 10 cent
coin. The little caterpillar looks cute. It nibbles on a leaf and it grows
bigger.
Next it hangs
upside down on a branch. It pushes and wriggles to take it’s skin off. Next it
makes a chrysalis. After 10 days the chrysalis breaks and out comes a beautiful
butterfly.
Arizona
I love butterflies
because I like watching them fly. When they are by the sun, they shine because
they have glitter on their wings. First it lays eggs on the plants. It takes
3-4 days to hatch out. It eats until it becomes big and fat. The caterpillar
hangs upside down and then turns into a chrysalis. It stays inside the
chrysalis for 10 days. Then the chrysalis cracks open and then the butterfly
comes out.
Daena
I like to see
butterflies fly in the sky. It makes my eyes go funny. I love butterflies
because they have colourful wings.
First they lay
eggs. After 3-4 days the eggs hatch into a caterpillar. It eats heaps of leaves
and gets fatter and fatter. Then the caterpillar makes a chrysalis. Then it
hangs upside down from a branch. After 10-12 days the caterpillar turns into a
butterfly.
Rebecca
I love butterflies
because they are colourful. I like butterflies because they let me chase them.
First they lay
eggs on the leaves. It takes 3-4 days for the eggs to hatch. The little tiny
caterpillar looks like a worm. It eats lots of leaves because it is hungry. It
gets fatter and fatter. Then it hangs upside down. After that a caterpillar
makes a chrysalis. It stays in the chrysalis for 10-12 days. They shed their
skins. They wriggle and they push and pull to turn into a chrysalis. After 12
days the chrysalis breaks and a little baby butterfly comes out. The butterfly
dries it’s wings and then the butterfly is ready to fly in the sky.

Room 10's Reading Challenge
Our challenge for this week was to read our books fluently with expression. All the students practiced reading their books. Everyone tried hard: before school, during lunch time and at home. The winners of the challenge were Tareek, Arizona, Teresa and Faka'ata. They all won chocolates as their prize.

Getting to know the names of people in my class
Buzz Buzz
This is a game to help students learn each others' names.
Play this game outside with a large bouncing ball. Gather students in a circle and explain that there are four sets of words permissible in this game. Buzz buzz, Ooh Ooh, Eee Eee and Aye Aye.
Begin the game by starting your name followed by one of the nonsense phrases, and then bounce the ball to another person in the group. This player must say his or her name and then one of the nonsense phrases and then bounce the ball back to another person. The game continues in this manner, moving as quickly as possible from one player to another.
