This Term we have been learning about Technology. One of the challenges was to make a liveable tent using paper and masking tape. We decided to make a tent with 9 sides. It is called a nonagon because it has 9 sides. It has a pyramid at the top. The sides of the nonagon have triangular walls. We had to plan to make a strong base so that it could hold the weight of the walls and the roofs. To make the walls strong we provided support of cardboard on the joints. We provided a pillar in the centre to support the roof. It took us more than a week to complete our tents.
It can occupy at least 5 people from our class. We love to read books in our tent.
We are a very enthusiastic bunch of kids in Room 10. Join us in our learning journey through our blog.

ART: Making name cards
We made these name plates earlier in November. We did them after completing all our assignments. They were easy to do and the results were spectacular. We used 'Drip Paint' technique to make our backgrounds. Have a look!

Inventions and their impact on lives
Telephones help us to talk to people who stay far away from us. I can call my family in Tonga. We can call people in emergency and they will be in time to help me. Telephones are very important inventions. These days it will be very hard for us to live without telephones.

Recount: Morning in the Park
One sunny morning, I went out in the park. I saw yellow daisies. They looked pretty. They reminded me of a puppy named Daisy. I saw a big shady tree. I heard birds singing up in the sky. There was a dog barking far away and I could hear the birds tweeting in the trees. Close by in the grass, the cicadas were whistling loudly. I lay down on the grass and the wind blew softly on my face. I wanted to go to sleep in the warm sun.

Sir Edmund Hillary
Today Rimus Reading group read a book about Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world. Everyone in the group was curious to know who climbed the Everest first. So we researched about it from the books and the net. We used poppet App on the iPads to present our information.

Getting to know the names of people in my class
Buzz Buzz
This is a game to help students learn each others' names.
Play this game outside with a large bouncing ball. Gather students in a circle and explain that there are four sets of words permissible in this game. Buzz buzz, Ooh Ooh, Eee Eee and Aye Aye.
Begin the game by starting your name followed by one of the nonsense phrases, and then bounce the ball to another person in the group. This player must say his or her name and then one of the nonsense phrases and then bounce the ball back to another person. The game continues in this manner, moving as quickly as possible from one player to another.
