Keen Learners

We love using google apps in our classroom and some of the children also love using them at home.  Perenara did not get his pl presentation completed on Monday as he had trouble with his computer.  He came bounding in today keen to tell us that he had completed it from home, and it looks great.  Leilani has also been working hard at home.  She has worked out that she can use google docs to help her practice her spelling words.   Have a look at their great work.

Tuakana-Teina Time with Room 6

This week we joined up with our buddy class to learn how to use google presentations.  We decided to create a presentation showing the words we had thought of for our blend of the week.  Our buddy from Room 6 showed us how to make the first slide, then they supported us as we had a go at doing it on our own.  They were great teachers and we can't wait to have a go on our own next week.

The Netbooks Have Arrived!

On Friday last week Mrs Kelly popped into our classroom with a mysterious black container.  At first we thought it might be filled with shoes or lollies but it was something even better - five new netbooks!  Today we started learning how to sign into google apps and it won't be long before we are google  experts.

Maui and the Sun

Last week we were learning to follow the literacy cycle to complete a piece of writing.  We decided to retell the Maui and the Sun story.  First we planned our story and then we used this as a guide to write our story.  Our next step was work with a buddy to reflect on what we had written. Once we had finished our reflection, and made any changes necessary, we conferenced  with Miss Kirsty and then we were ready to share our work.

Into the Deep

We are lucky to have a temporary pool at our school and this week we started our swimming lessons.  We have had lots of fun learning to blow bubbles underwater, float on our tummies and backs and kick with long legs.  After our swimming lesson on Tuesday we made our first video using the ipad.   Kira helped people record themselves and Sifa has edited the movie using imovie on the ipad.  Well done everyone!
