Tuakana Teina means helping a buddy with their learning. For a Tuakana Teina day we participated in technology challenges. It was a good experience to be working with older buddies who could help us make the marble maze. It was fun!
We are a very enthusiastic bunch of kids in Room 10. Join us in our learning journey through our blog.

ART: Making name cards
We made these name plates earlier in November. We did them after completing all our assignments. They were easy to do and the results were spectacular. We used 'Drip Paint' technique to make our backgrounds. Have a look!

Our class trip to Kelly Tarltons
Last week we went on a trip to Kelly Tarltons with my class.
First we went on the bus. When we reached Kelly Tarltons we had to go in groups. So me and my group went to the penguins. i tried to count all the penguins. The were over 10 million. Then we went to the scary bridge. we walked on it and it moved. I was so scared. We took a photo and moved along.
The Sting ray bay was interesting. The lady went in the water and fed the stingrays without getting stung.
We saw the sea horses. They wet all sizes, tiny, large and medium. We saw a dad sea horse that was pregnant.
Then we went to the shark zone. There were lots of huge sharks swimming over us. It was scary.
Then we had to come back to school. We waited for the buses. It was a long wait until the bus came. I fell asleep on the way back to school. I felt tired. When I reached school, my mum was there to pick me up. It was a good trip.

Sir Edmund Hillary
Today Rimus Reading group read a book about Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world. Everyone in the group was curious to know who climbed the Everest first. So we researched about it from the books and the net. We used poppet App on the iPads to present our information.

Getting to know the names of people in my class
Buzz Buzz
This is a game to help students learn each others' names.
Play this game outside with a large bouncing ball. Gather students in a circle and explain that there are four sets of words permissible in this game. Buzz buzz, Ooh Ooh, Eee Eee and Aye Aye.
Begin the game by starting your name followed by one of the nonsense phrases, and then bounce the ball to another person in the group. This player must say his or her name and then one of the nonsense phrases and then bounce the ball back to another person. The game continues in this manner, moving as quickly as possible from one player to another.
